According to an account in the local press, the government of Argentina has suspended operations of the Pilcaniyeu enrichment plant.

The plant, built in the late 1970s, used gaseous diffusion technology, currently considered extremely inefficient. It was shut down in 1996 but reopened in 2015.

Although the government has not formally closed down the facility, it can no longer be considered operational.
