Spent fuel reprocessing in Russia in 2016-2024

Annual reports of the Russia's Federal Nuclear and Radiological Security Program contains data on spent fuel reprocessing in Russia. Since 2016, when the current program began, and to the end of 2024 Russia reprocessed 996 tonnes of spent fuel.

As an additional data point, the table also includes data on the increase of the amount of civilian plutonium reported by Russia in its INFCIRC/549 submissions to the IAEA. Note that Russia uses its civilian plutonium to produce MOX fuel for the BN-800 reactor. The serial production of MOX fuel began in 2019. The reactor operates with a full MOX load since 2022.
