The United States and Japan announced the removal of about 30 kg of HEU from three research sites in Japan:
- University of Tokyo's Yayoi Research Reactor
- Japan Atomic Energy Agency's Deuterium Critical Assembly
- Japan Atomic Energy Agency's Japan Research Reactor 4
The shipment was completed in March 2022. According to the NNSA, the material was taken to the Savannah River Site in Aiken, South Carolina, and the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
