United States and Russia sign an agreement on nuclear cooperation

On September 16, 2013 U.S. Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz and Director General of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko signed the Agreement between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Russian Federation on Cooperation in Nuclear- and Energy-Related Scientific Research and Development. The agreement complements the so-called 123 Agreement between the two countries that was signed in 2008 and entered into force in January 2011.
