The Electrochemical plant (EKhZ) in Zelenogorsk launched a centrifuge cascade that will be producing enriched uranium for fast and research reactors. It was reported earlier that the new production line will be producing highly-enriched uranium. EKhZ is also installing a new conversion facility that will produce U3O8 from the enriched uranium, which will subsequently be used to manufacture reactor fuel. It is scheduled to begin operations in November 2012.
