The Los Alamos Study Group obtained the March 27, 2012 Memorandum for members of the Nuclear Weapons Council on Joint DoE/NNSA and DoD Programmatic Realignments, which recommends, among other things, deferring the Chemistry and Metallurgy Replacement-Nuclear Facility (CMRR-NF) for at least five years.

The funds for CMRR facility were requested by the Obama administration in its FY2011 Budget request. However, in the FY2013 request the administration proposed deferring the construction of the facility for five years. In 2011, the Los Alamos Study Group challenged the construction of the CMRR facility in court, which refused to suspend the construction.
