Obninsk institute produces Mo-99 for Poland

The Obninsk branch of the Karpov Scientific Research Institute of Physical Chemistry (NIFKhI) supplied its first batch of Mo-99 to Poland on May 15, 2010, according to an AtomInfo.ru report

The Obninsk branch of NIFKhI operates a VVR-ts research reactor, which was used to produce the isotope. The reactor uses HEU fuel with enrichment of up to 36% U-235.

Earlier, AtomInfo.ru reported that NIFKhI in Obninsk is working on the Mo-99 project with a Canadian company MDS Nordion.
