The Mining and Chemical Combine in Zheleznogorsk will build second pilot reprocessing line at the Pilot Demonstration Center. The first line successfully reprocessed its first VVER-1000 fuel assembly in June 2018. The second line will be used to develop and test new technologies. It is not known what kind of spent fuel will be reprocessed there. The cost of the project is said to be 4.4 billion rubles (about $65 million at the current exchange rate). Construction is expected to be completed in August 2020.
