India's first nuclear submarine accepted for service

According to reports in the Indian press, India's first indigenously built nuclear-powered submarine, INS Arihant, was commissioned into service in August 2016. The submarine was in sea trials since December 2014. The 83 MW pressurized-water reactor that powers the submarine, is using HEU with enrichment of about 30% in its fuel. The reactor first went critical in August 2013.
